So I've been sitting here in Pump It Up for nearly 30 minutes...I don't go to Pump It Up to just reflect, my kids are still on Spring Break. They play, I try to write. In fact, it's kind of hard to reflect with all of the bright colors and Kidz Bop 1003 blasting right above me, I digress...
I've been sitting here on this uncomfortable bench with NO table...I mean, come on Pump It Up! Spring for a place for parents to hang out. I mean if we hang out longer, chances are more money will be spent. Not from me, however, but from other people, maybe.
Anwyas, I'm here in this inflatable crazy-house collecting pictures from the last few weeks and trying to figure out my direction for this post. I HATE when I can't figure out what I want to talk about. Pressure to be funny, or simply NOT pointless. To not lose you, dear friend who's taking time out of your busy life to read what's going on in my own life. Stay with me for one more minute, it's picking up...I promise...
I realized that now that it's April, it's getting close to my anniversary. I could write about that. No, I want to save that for later in the month when it actually is closer to that date. So when I logged into My Fitness Pal to double-check the actual date I started using the site and started this whole journey I came to a staggering realization...
One year ago, I was 13 pounds lighter. I was thinking that I had been maintaining and yeah, maybe I was 5-10 lbs within that same weight I was last year.
I
guess
not.
In typing this just now, I also realized that one year ago I was full into the hardest part of my marathon training, running a TON and burning calories like mad. But still, I'm the most comfortable at that weight. I need to get back into tracking my food intake.
Are you getting sick of me? Every few posts, I lament this same realization: I need to get back onto MFP. I have to. I can't go into the summer NOT tracking. I've worked too hard to go back to bad habits.
I had this conversation with my friend and co-worker on Friday when we got together for our long run this weekend. Here we are more than mid-way:

We talked about getting sick and other set backs and how frustrating it is to gain ground and then have it come screeching to a halt. She had a great half-marathon with an awesome pace and PR and then she got sick and hasn't been back in the groove. I feel the same way. I haven't gotten back into my groove speed-wise since that 14 miler I last wrote about and that was 3 weeks ago! I got sick RIGHT after that and haven't felt the same out on the road.
That's life, though. There will always be these set-backs and start-back-ups. The important part is that you have the will and tenacity to START BACK UP. I know I've written about this before. I guess I just need to revisit this concept often. Anyone else picking up what I'm laying down?
Another fun thing I've gotten to do recently is run with the MUDD runners in Sterne's Woods. I haven't been out there since the Frozen Gnome in January. Although I kind of wanted to sleep in that morning, I got my tired butt outta bed and I was SO glad I did, even though I needed a nap that afternoon after the 13.1 the day before and the 5.5 I left in the woods. The trails and woods are so beautiful and challenging and delicious. There is another trail race there in 2 weeks for Earth Day. I really wanted to do one of the distances, but the Nashville Rock n Roll Half is the next week and I didn't want to take any chance on getting hurt since we're traveling and everything. I have a few friends doing the 15 miler there and another fearless friend doing the 50K for the first time! Go Christine! Here's a pic of a couple of us:

There is one more super exciting and fun project I've been involved with that I know I've been teasing you about the last couple of posts. While I won't talk about it in detail until next post (I PROMISE!!!) here's what I can say:
