I see a light...it's kind of far away...it's going to take me a bit to reach it...but I SEE it!!
Is it June yet? Actually, I don't even need it to be June, I just need it to be Memorial Day weekend because that means all of our concerts in the Storer household will be completed, all birthdays are over (and hopefully the thank you cards have been mailed...) school is almost out for the summer and
I
can
finally
breathe...
Albeit super crazy busy, life has really been great these last two weeks. Things I'm bonkers about now:
1) The Ragnar Relay is 3 weeks away!! I'm the 12th on a team of lovely and fun and hard core ladies from the Mom's Run This Town running group. And the 12 of us will take turns running 3 legs each from Madison, WI to downtown Chicago starting at 7:30am on Friday, June 12. That means, we will be caravaning over 36 hours, running 3 times within that time frame, getting very little sleep and making some pretty amazing memories. I CAN'T WAIT!! Some of my most favorite people are on my team and I can't wait to ride this epic rollercoaster with them! I did my first trial of running my three legs just this week and it went well.

I felt great about my pace and the overall runs on Thursday. Friday morning I had issues. The nicest way to put it is that the Chinese food I ate for dinner at 9pm the night before came back to haunt me. It was uncomfortable and sucky. However, when it comes down to it at the race, my last run is probably not going to feel great, as I'm sure I won't be getting much rest while we're on the road. So it was probably a good thing that my body wasn't at it's best for that last run.
2) The second thing making really happy since last time is my Mother's Day run. The two days leading up to Mother's Day were actually pretty horrible. I had one of the worse migraines I've ever had. I was dizzy, I threw up, it was NOT fun. However, Sunday morning, I woke up and it was gone and I was ready to lace up and get out of the house. It also happened to be my boys's birthdays on Mother's Day and the day after. I swear, their birthdays are cursed. The weather is always less than desirable. However, while it wasn't sunny and blue skies, I did feel like the brooding fog and cool, misty air was the perfect ambience for my adventure.

I got 12 in that morning and it was honestly, the most perfect way to spend Mother's Day. I am so thankful for that run. It helped my mind and my soul more than anything that day.
3) GIRLS on the RUN! I was honored to be asked by one of my lovely students to be her running buddy this morning for her 3rd year running with the Girls on the Run group at school. This program is so incredible. I so wish that it had been around when I was in elementary school. I never considered myself athletic, even in the slightest. I was always overweight, had low self-esteem and well, thank goodness for my music, because, I didn't have many other interests. This program empowers young girls, engages them with each other and encourages them to be comfortable in their own skin. They are taught that they can do anything! Today was the culmination of the program and we all participated in a very well run 5K. It was such a blast!

By the time I write next I will be just about to start marathon training! June 1 is the beginning of the craziness and believe it or not, I am really looking forward to starting to train again! I met with the wonderful friends at The Running Depot on this week and I'm so happy to report that I get to continue to cover races as their ambassador! We've started filling up my dance card...race card? You know what I mean! And it looks like I'll be very busy running here and there and every where and that makes me SUPER happy!
Have a wonderful couple of weeks, friends! I hope you are moving and grooving and enjoying the lovely weather we've been having! Special shout out to my friends who have been dominating their goals, lately! Sheri has been writing again and my good friend Kim ran her first 5K race this morning! So proud of you ladies!
Thanks so much for reading!!
